Program Note
In Every Raindrop, a Universe (2024), for solo (violin, oboe, or sop sax ) and piano, was inspired by the work of composer Toru Takemitsu (1930-1996). The piece is an exploration of contour, whole tone and octatonic pitch collections, and Ma inspired pacing.
In Every Raindrop...is a continuation of the composer’s research into compositional methodology and computer-assisted algorithmic composition. The piece was composed with the aid of the software Supercollider, Max, and Ableton Live.
